Things I Learned in Class

In my computer class, I learned a lot of things. I learned a lot more on the basic stuff. Most of
them came from the Dell computers. Eventually, I worked on projects on Microsoft Word, Excel, and Access. Late in December, my class started to use Apple computers, which have a few advanced things. These helped me check out more about the coolest technology.
These new things helped me in a lot of ways. If there was something I never done in a computer, then sometimes my class and I would learn it from my teacher Ms. Ramirez. If I get a
good job that uses these skills then I'll know just what to do. In my other classes if I were to do
a PowerPoint presentation, which I have never done before, then the new skills that I learned
in computer class will definitely help.
This new technology is very important for a career that I might be pursuing because it is
21st century technology and it leads to new careers for people. I enjoy playing video games and
some colleges have a degree for it. I might get a career in game design. I might also get an Academy major for Apple.

3 possible careers that I might persue

1. Baseball
- Hamilton: A player needs good eye coordination, body-type, and baseball skills.
- NYIT Athletics: People pursuing a baseball career should be playing in college, not in the streets, so that they could one day be drafted by a major league team.
- Adelphi University:All players need good grades to join the team.

2. Video Games
- Full Sail University: Anyone pursuing this career are lovers of video games.
- Academy of Art University: You'll need computer problem-solving and communication skills.
- The Art Institute: You need basic computer skills to help do the game art.

The Internet and Computing Core Certification is a program in the United States that teaches
individuals basic computer and Internet skills.

Transport Layer Security (TLS)

TLS is an Internet security similar to SSL that provides security to computer users.

Strong Password

A strong password is a password that is hard for humans and computer programs to detect.
It consists of six characters including a combination of letters, numbers, and symbols.

Spyware

Spyware is an Internet software that is used without the owner's permission to obtain data or
any other information.

Sniffer

A sniffer is a software program that monitors network traffic.

Secure Sockets Layer (SSL)

SSL is a security technology that protects the users when using the Internet such as browsers,
e-mails, websites and other data transfers.

Repetitive strain injury (RSI)

RSI is an injury to the hand or arm from overusing muscles and repeating the same motion
many times.

Public Key

A public key is a key to get information that is available to the public.

Private Key

A private key is a signature key that is used to create a digital signature for confidential information.

Keylogger

A keylogger is a program
that tracks the user's keystroke on a computer.

Hardware Firewall

A hardware firewall is in your broadband router. It prevents unauthorized access to your
computer network.

Hacking

Hacking is using a computer without unauthorization from anyone.

Brute Force Attacks

A brute force attack gaining access to the account by typing letters and numbers until it matches the password without attempting to decrypt the information.

Browser hijacking

Browser hijacking is changing a browser's settings without the user's permission.

Telecommuting

Telecommuting is working at home using a computer connected to the employer's network.

Online Learning

Online learning is taking classes on the Internet.

A keyless entry system is a device (car keys) used to allow or deny access to automobiles.

E-commerce is a business conducted through the Internet. It is buying and selling products and services.

A search engine is a retrieval system to help or to get information in the Web. The results are
presented in a list of hits.

A public domain is a material that are available for anyone to use freely.
